What are the basic Leo traits?

Something elevated, something joyful and playful, even royal is in the air during the height of summer in the Northern hemisphere. This is the time when fruits ripen on the trees. The Sun shines majestically. Nature itself matures. People do (usually) mature at the end of puberty. They become self-reliant and go on into the world to do something on their own, to create a name for themselves. This is Leo. They are among the most will-driven people, self-reliant leaders but are also endowed with a great goodness of a warm heart and strong emotional depth. Leos tends to judge with the heart and to decide accordingly. Let’s not forget that the ruler of Leo is the Sun. This fact gives the Leo type a special imprint. There is something radiant about Leos, something outstanding, often also something commanding and domineering, so that they frequently stand out in society. If the personality traits are at least somewhat socially oriented, Leos are definitely able to assume a special position in a job or in society overall. The Leo person feels like the center of attention and they often think that everything revolves around them. They love power, nobility, pomp, order, royal manners, etiquette. All things festive, brilliant, grand and exciting, exhilarating. They have a natural pride in their nature. Leos want to shine in society and love to receive compliments. If they are criticised however, it is a different story. They are easily hurt in their pride, and not necessarily good at taking criticism constructively. Pride comes before fall so they need to keep their ego in check.

At the same time, they have a warm heart, they give, they empathise, and they love with great affection. Leos are generous, helpful, active, forgiving, fair, sensual, steadfast, ambitious, loyal in friendship and love, and benevolent. Their compassion is not passive or for show only, but comes from an inner attitude that shows their life constantly in expressive action. Leos need glamour and cheerful, festive events which is where they shine. They do not like sadness or gloom. However, Leos also consider the suffering and intricacies of another person’s emotional state. They maintain a noble posture and appear proud and dignified. If negative factors prevail, crude, tyrannical, disorganised, domineering, stubborn, bossy, arrogant, and impersonal traits become noticeable. Leos have a passionate temperament—for both good and for worse.

Leo individuals are often found in leading positions, where perseverance is required. For instance they are well suited for government positions, or where they can represent a leading function in an industry: a mayor, a head of state, a president, a director, producer, musician, manager, department head in a department store, operations manager—essentially anywhere where an authoritative demeanour and confidence are needed, especially when dealing with the public and personnel. They make good managers because of their leading capabilities.

Women born under the sign of Leo are capable of holding leadership roles with great responsibility. Leo women are now found in all kinds of careers in top positions—including those in which many would not have expected them. The intelligence of the Leo person is usually good, although they don’t necessarily become an intellectual type that is overly concerned with scientific research papers for example. They are doers, mostly among the quick-thinking and quick-reacting people.

What are physical traits of Leo or Leo Rising?

Usually the Rising Sign (or Ascendant) and the 1st House (the Rising Sign marks the beginning of the 1st House) are the primary indication of the physical appearance and body. Some astrological schools include the 2nd House and 3rd House as well, the whole first quadrant, to describe the whole physical body of the person.
